Competitive Gaming with Asperger’s Syndrome-4/2/18
Hey guys I am back with a blog that I’ve been wanting to write for a while but I also had to assess the patterns with my gaming in order to find out how I get affected with my Asperger’s. I will now talk about this so lets get into it.

As you guys know from Twitter, I am a massive Fifa player this year. On Fifa 18 I have already played over 1000 games because I have played the competitive game mode called FUT Champions every single weekend it has been running. This game mode consists of playing 40 games over the Friday 7am to Monday 7am period.
I do think the number of games is very excessive and should be reduced but I choose to play it for my love of the game and due to the fact I am a very competitive person. On a normal weekend I win between 23 and 27 games. Considering that there are times over a weekend where I play pretty badly I find this pretty impressive.
Basically, I play worse on a Saturday and on my final few games because I’m usually sitting between ranks. Most people would just see it as a game but it is very easy to get extremely nervous when you know you’re a win away from the next rank. I feel like if I didn’t have Asperger’s I would be able to cope a bit more with the mental side of playing the game.
Even if there was an extra day to play the 40 games it would be so much easier mentally. I always worry about how long I will be able to keep up with the games as it’s my main hobby but if the mental effects aren’t worth it I’d obviously stop. I feel like there should be more done in order to help people with disabilities like Autism, Asperger’s or ADHD enjoy their gaming experience and to cope with the mental demand that can come from gaming.
Thank you for reading guys and I am so thankful for all of the wonderful support.

  1. I’m about to give up on competitive games as soon as I touch that ranked button, my nerves betray me and play much, much worst than I usually do. Anyway, just felt like sharing so you know that you’re doing great regardless. Good luck with your ranks.
