My blog progression
Hey guys, I back with a new blog and this one is about my blog progression since I have gone self-hosted. I have been enjoying my content so much and a good way to improve is by analysing your own work so I will be going through a lot of things such as blog stats, layout and schedule. I’d also love to read your comments below with not only what you think of my blog but also what you think of your own blog and what you plan on doing to improve it. Let’s get right into this blog.
Blog Stats and schedule
I had only gone self-hosted on July 13th. My stats as I write this blog are as follows:
- 1349 views
- 539 visitors
- 96 comments( Probably half me and half you guys)
I actually think that these stats are amazing considering that I don’t get anywhere near as much time as I used to when it comes to writing and promoting content. I manage to get a few quickfire tweets throughout each day promoting my blog and a handful of hours writing content each week as work takes up most of my time and I still have other stuff to do when I’m not in work.
With my schedule, I am fairly satisfied, to be honest. I know I don’t have much time so still managing to post 2/3 times a week and usually every 3/4 days is actually pretty good. I wouldn’t want to just throw out any old content either because I have high standards of myself and actually want you guys to engage and enjoy the content.
I really struggled with this until the last couple of weeks in my opinion. At first, I couldn’t find a theme for my blog that allowed my posts to show up very clearly and I couldn’t add an archive post list without it looking awful. I never had a list until someone messaged me on Twitter about it and using their advice and having a bit of a play around on my lunch break at work, I found something that worked in the end and I won’t be changing my theme or layout anytime soon because I want my content to be easy to read and very quick to access.
The content writing
My writing skills have definitely improved since I have gone self-hosted. I feel like I get to the point of my content so much quicker and far more clearly than I used to months ago. I also feel like not using pictures in my blogs is a massive part of that. I don’t know why but going by stats they make my blogs worse. I ran a trial period where I used them every single blog but they didn’t bring more people to the content so I stopped because it’s clearly my writing that works best. I firmly believe that you shouldn’t fix something that isn’t broken so let’s get back to normal.
Overall, I feel like I’m doing as great as I can under the circumstances with my blog. I will hopefully keep improving because September was a great month on my old blog last year so hopefully I can repeat that by producing content that is as great as I have been writing lately. I will also be using my week off to prepare more posts and work on little things I can improve and fine tune too. I want you guys to enjoy my blogs and while I am enjoying writing so much I feel like with my effort that can definitely be possible.
I would love to thank you so much for reading and supporting my content. I’d love for you guys to comment below with your opinion of my blog as well as how your own blog is going and how you plan to carry on going forward.
Don’t forget to stay shining as always guys.
