Why SEO doesn’t suit me
Hey guys, I am back with another blog and this one will be about why SEO marketing doesn’t work for my blog and what I do instead in order to draw traffic to it. I keep hearing about things you must do for SEO but after a few different tester posts towards the end of my old blog a couple of months ago nothing really improved and that is why I don’t find that SEO is for me.
What is SEO?
SEO marketing is basically just search engine optimisation. This means that if you get your posts completely spot on and use the correct blog titles and content etc your posts should be super easy to find on Google. It is very hard to rank highly on Google’s searches because of the fact there are genuinely so many blogs on each topic we can blog about. Even if you are like me and don’t have a niche there isn’t a topic we could cover that wouldn’t have been covered before us or be something similar in existence already.
What happened when I used SEO Tactics?
For me, this was never ever the case. I have only had 16 views on my blog in 38 days from search engines which is bloody awful in my opinion. The only things that kept happening were that my blog viewership fell dramatically and the titles I chose to go with only felt like they clouded over what the blog was actually about and that’s not what my content is. I’m always super clear with my content as I want my reader to know exactly what my blog is about just solely from the title. I feel like being straight to the point is important with blogging.
What I do to market my blog
I find this to be super important. The question I will ask is that how can people discover your blog if you never share it? I know it is very daunting putting your content out there at first but trust me, it is super important. I aim to post about my blog about 5/6 times a day at least as this will reach out to different people who use their social media at different times of the day. Timezones are also a big thing to work around too so you need to try and find a balance of when people from different areas are most active.
Building up your social media
The best thing about social media is that it can be so fun to work on at times. A big thing you need to be able to do though is to follow new people first. I nearly have 14k followers on Twitter and already 175 on Instagram even though I’ve not had it for long and the main reason for this is that I look out for other bloggers and follow first. If you don’t make the first move sometimes then your follower base might not grow as much and become stagnant and nobody wants that to happen.
Engaging on social media
This is by far the most important thing for me. I may not have the time to engage as much as I want to but even doing a little a day has added so much to my blog. The thing with the blogging community is that a lot of us aren’t great at engaging first but we are all great when someone reaches out to us. Even just small discussions with other bloggers will make them feel like checking out your content and another thing with engagement is that you can learn so much more than can help you improve your content.
My final thoughts
I fully believe that the tactics I use to grow my blog are far stronger than any SEO based tactics and I feel like so many blogs do well because of the blogger behind them being so hard working. I feel like I have so much more growth to do in order to get my blog to where I’d like it to be but I can manage it with hard work, more promotion and more engagement. I hope you guys can also find successful growth in your blogging journey. If you guys have any tactics for growth then leave them in the comments for others to read and learn about.
Thank you for reading, have a great day.
