How I dealt with my mental health problems
Hey guys, I am back with another blog post and this one is about how I’ve dealt with my mental health problems in order to get myself into the great position I am in now. There are many different ways to look after your mental health and there are some that work for certain people that don’t work for others. That is completely okay and that is a step in the right direction when it comes to dealing with your problems. I would also love to read how you guys look after your mental health so feel free to leave your comments with your methods. Let’s get right into the blog.
Having an outlet for being vocal with my emotions has definitely helped me so much mentally. I used to bottle everything up horrifically and end up feeling so uneasy about everything. I have a pretty fiery temper as well so it made me get so frustrated so quickly. Since I have begun to blog I feel like I’ve calmed down so much and this will probably only continue into 2019.
Self-care is absolutely vital in dealing with mental health problems. Taking time to look after yourself is something so many people forget to do and it’s so bizarre. I used to always put other people first but this year that changed and now I alienated everyone who doesn’t make effort with me and only focus on my girlfriend as she makes so much effort with me.
Stopped drinking alcohol
My last night out was on February 7th, 2017 and the last time I had a drink of alcohol was April 28th, 2017. Feels like forever since both of these days and I don’t miss drinking at all. Drinking while feeling any sort of negative emotion is always a disaster and that’s why I recommend not drinking alcohol if you feel any anxiety or depression. If your friends and loved ones understand your mental problems fully then they will suggest alternatives to clubbing and drinking.
Stop forcing yourself
A big thing for me is that I’ve stopped forcing myself into doing things I don’t want to do. I used to succumb to peer pressure so easily or do things without thinking about how they would affect me whereas now I only do something if I 100% want to do them. This has helped me so much when it comes to staying calm.
Letting go of the past
This step was massive for me. I used to get caught up in the past so much and replay so many situations over in my head about a million times. I finally got over this early on this year and I am only going forward and building momentum very quickly. Your future will be better if you actually focus on it 100%.
These have been my methods guys. I’d love for you to leave yours in the comments. Thank you for supporting my content. Have a great day.
