My blog: Doing Enough?

My blog: Doing Enough?

As a blogger, we ask ourselves a lot of questions but for me, there is one absolute constant question that we always wonder what the answer is. This question for me is whether my blog is doing enough. I mean this in a couple of ways too. The first is whether it’s producing the numbers I hope it should and the second is whether I’m having fun and producing good enough content for you guys to read. I would love to know what you think of my blog, whether you enjoy reading my posts and I’d also love to know what I can improve. Let’s get right into the blog post.

The numbers

The numbers will always be a thing that creates a lot of different thoughts in the mind of any blogger and that is completely okay. To me, since I’ve been self-hosted the numbers have done a lot of things and changed so much over time. At first, my page views were super high but my content never really got too much love whereas since 2019 has started my page views are down but my blog views have been mostly decent. I do wish that I could hit the next level for views and I feel like with the right hard work and enough feedback from you guys this is very possible.

In terms of answering the title question of this blog, I don’t feel like the numbers are enough considering the fact I have nearly 16k Twitter followers and 962 blog followers overall. I feel like this should be enough to hit 80/90 views on each blog at the very least and so far in 2019, I have only hit 90 4 times. This does make me want to do more with the content I produce whether it’s doing more promo work or trying to keep growing my Twitter and Instagram.

Having fun

I feel like my blog writing involves a lot of fun constantly. I am permanently motivated to producing new content due to how much I love having an outlet for my thoughts and the ability to share with you guys helps so much too. I feel like so much of the feedback I get is super positive too and the number of comments has been up so much in recent times that I firmly believe that you guys enjoy the majority of my content too. I admit that sometimes I do get my ideas wrong but that comes from having no niche and having a barrel load of ideas every single week.

I would also love to know what topics you would like me to cover in blog posts because I am fairly open to writing about anything.

In terms of answering the title question, I feel like my blog does enough by far in regards to having fun as a reader and for myself as a content creator. I’d love to be able to get the number side of things up to par with that so if you have any tips for me then I’d love to hear them.

Thank you for reading and supporting my blog guys. Have a great day.

  1. Hey. Nice read here. A few thoughts, those subscriber numbers on the blog are quite good. I take your point on subscribers vs. view ratios. Do you find yourself following alot of other blogs and people in general, with the hope they’ll follow back?

    1. Thank you. I’m not subscribed to any blogs anymore although before I do think people thought they’d follow me with me being active on their blog so when I never had time they stopped bothering

      1. I think it’s less about large numbers and more about deeper relationships. You have large follower numbers… I’d spend a few hour search day just having general conversations with them. Adding value. Not asking them to even look at your blog. Keep a link to your stuff in your bio and a pinned tweet. People will check you out that way bro. Keep at it.

        1. My numbers have been down since the new year too. I’m trying not to let it get me down but like you, would love to get to the next level! I enjoy writing though, plus the connections I’ve made, so agree it’s not just about numbers

          1. 100%. So many people in the blogging space focus so much on numbers vs depth of relationship. I can tell you the interests, challenges and interesting things about the lives of my readers, because I care. It’s rewarding. And they appreciate it. And blogging is a long game. And a rewarding one. Right?

          2. Yeah I think part of my problem is that I’ve managed to make a lot of connections over time but I’ve not had as much time to engage recently but still been growing numbers on social media so it’s hard to keep ahead of the shuffle

  2. Iโ€™m so new to blogging and I enjoy reading your posts as it really helping me. Learning so much! Thank you for sharing!!! X

  3. I’d like to see you write about what’s going on in Glasgow, like at street-level, and how it impacts you or doesn’t. Go for a walk, find one thing that stood out as different, and then blog about it.

  4. I can definitely relate to some of your feelings in here, especially when it comes to numbers. I started off strong which is great, but it feel like it’s just stayed at the same level and I was hoping for more growth. As others have said, it’s definitely about the relationships more than the numbers, but they can be hard to maintain if you don’t have a lot of time. But I’m glad to know you are having fun and I hope things pick up again for you soon!

    1. Thank you so much ๐Ÿ˜ŠYeah time is absolutely everything in blogging and how we use it definitely makes a difference

Thank you for your feedback
