Should we lighten up?

Should we lighten up?

Hey guys, I am back with a new blog and this one is about how serious people have become and why we should learn to all have a laugh and joke from time to time. I will discuss what my sense of humour is and why I think it is vital to have one in order to cope better with the harder times in life. I would also love to know what you guys find funny and what you think of people and how serious we are generally. Let’s get right into the blog.

One of the main reasons I had a dark spell in my life was because I took everything super seriously. School and college do that to too many people these days though because everything is so results driven and that brings so much pressure in itself. Every teacher and lecturer makes out as if this is your life on the spot there and then but this simply isn’t true. I turned out alright despite not having the best school exam results and struggled through college and that is partly why I wish I didn’t take things seriously anywhere near as much as I did.

I made myself miserable for literally no reason other than self-inflicted pressure and to me, that’s not right. Another thing that irks me though is how easily offended everyone gets over literally anything on social media. I remember when having a dark humour was acceptable in society and you could post any joke and not have any negative reactions. However, these days that really isn’t possible. It really sucks because you should be able to joke about the majority of things except for a handful of things like cancer, racism etc. Imagine we all had senses of humour and showed that on social media. everything would be so positive and make things better for us all.

I ultimately believe that we should lighten up a lot because having fun and not taking life seriously 24/7 can help us grow as individuals, make new friendships/relationships and improve our mental health. I definitely believe that if I lightened up in school I’d have had better exam results and then taken that forward in life instead of having to play catchup through college and scratching and clawing for every result and exam pass I got.

I would love to thank you guys for reading and supporting my blog. Have a great day.

  1. Yes humor is important; I work in Human Resources and on top of that with the world being so “conscious” of everything now, you can’t even make a joke about someone’s shoes without there being a national crisis. I often find it difficult to just appreciate a funny now because of what I do; everyone comes in different packages. I’m always being conscious of every single person and thing that it’s hard to turn that off sometimes.

  2. I think it depends on your environment. I worked in the finance sector, yawn, and it was boring. ☹️ Everyone was as stiff as a board. As I am an outgoing person I tried cracking jokes – I got nothing. So, I left the industry altogether. After 4 years of ‘silence’ in the offfice, I was over it. Now, I’m happy. 😊👍🏽

  3. I totally agree!! I love a good joke and laugh and it makes the days so much better! I also think that people have definitely become (what i have heard people call) social snowflakes and are easily offended by EVERYTHING. There is of course limits, but taking everything so seriously is so sad sometimes and a laugh always brings the mood up! Thanks for sharing 🙂

  4. Yes I agree! Everyone takes things so seriously and it’s not getting anyone anywhere! We all could use more fun and taking it easy!

  5. I’ve gotta agree with you here! Dang near everyone in America is offended by almost everything these days! I cannot stand to be around people who don’t have any type of sense of humor .. no laughter of fun about themselves. I love people but at the same time it’s hard for me to deal with those who have such dry personalities! Great Post ♥️ https://jessierenea.com/tone-of-voice-matters/
