The truth about blogging

The truth about blogging

There are a lot of truths regarding blogging but unfortunately, a lot of people who aren’t in the blogging world don’t see what us bloggers do. I found out a lot of new things when I got involved in blogging just over a year and a half ago now and in this blog post I will go on to discuss what blogging is really like and what is involved. I would also love to get your guys’ perspectives on blogging and what is involved so comment with your thoughts and feelings. Let’s get right into this blog post.

It isn’t easy

A big thing for outsiders is to think that blogging is super easy. In reality, any blogger can tell you that is pretty difficult. Understanding what works best for you is only one little step and then there are so many other things to consider. I’ve been blogging for nearly 20 months and I still know for a fact that I don’t know everything about blogging. I don’t think it’ll ever be possible for any blogger to know everything so I guess we will all need to come together and combine our knowledge.

It is a full-time job in itself

A big thing that people who don’t blog don’t realise is that it takes so much time to work on blog content. Realistically it takes more hours to get everything to do with your blog completed each week than it does for a full-time job. There have been weeks when I have easily spent 60/70 hours working on my blog and still only managed to produce 3 or 4 posts due to the fact promotion and engaging take hours of work too. I love what I do with my blog but my god it is a lot of work. I can understand why it would be off-putting for people on the outside looking in to see how much work is required but I always say if you love writing you will be able to have fun putting the work in.

Growing social media is essential for blog growth

Part of the reason my blog has grown so much in the time I’ve used it is due to how much effort I’ve put into growing my social media. I have recently hit 16000 Twitter followers as well as 500 followers on Instagram. I also need to put in extra work to find what works for promotion on social media and recently that has also changed too. Another thing is that different social media sites result in different growth for different bloggers. For me, Twitter is by far my most useful social media site. However, I have seen plenty of other bloggers do well with Facebook and Pinterest which are sites that I never use purely down to the time constraints.

It can be a full-time wage earner

It really does annoy me when I see people suggest that blogging can’t be something you earn money from because believe me, it really is. Although I haven’t earned money off of my blog personally there are plenty of opportunities out there and I see people take them every single day. It is so cool to see people getting to do what they love for money and if I ever got to the point where I feel like I could go for the opportunity I definitely would. I do want to keep my blog as a hobby just now but maybe in the future when I am ready then that will change.

My final thoughts

Here have been some of my truths about blogging guys. I would love to thank you for reading and supporting my blog as always. I look forward to reading your blogging truths in the comments. Have a great day.

  1. Everything you said is true. It is annoying when people say you can write a blog post in an hour or so. Not true! You have to do research on what you are writing about, you have to make sure you are using and you have to proofread and create great titles. Then, like you said, there is the social media promoting of your post after you write it. It really does take a lot of effort. However, it is fun and I love it! Great post!

  2. I haven’t even reached a full Teo months yet as a blogger and I can already see how true your statements are! It’s hard! Promoting is what’s really tough for me, but I’m getting the hang of it! Twitter has been the best for me also, but I keep hearing slot of bloggers mention how how good Pinterest is for promotion! It’s different for everyone I guess! I’m still new, so there’s still a lot more for me to learn and discover, the important thing is to enjoy the ride! Thanks for the post!
